The present invention provides a chelating agent for use in a method of treating a cancer in a subject, wherein the cancer is resistant to an anti-cancer therapeutic agent. Furthermore, the present invention provides a chelating agent for use in a method of sensitizing a subject to an anti-cancer therapy and/or counteracting resistance to an anti-cancer therapeutic agent wherein the method restores or reactivates tumor suppressor protein function that is preferably impaired due to aberrant tumor suppressor protein folding.
