Summary: | Aspects of the current subject matter relate to a wearable analyte monitoring device having an integrated applicator for deploying microneedle array-based sensors into a skin surface of a subject. The microneedle array is held in a first loaded configuration within a housing body of the wearable analyte monitoring device. Upon actuation, a biasing element accelerates the microneedle array into the skin of the subject, thereby transitioning the microneedle array to a second deployed configuration in which the microneedle array protrudes through the distal opening of the housing body, and enabling one or more target analytes in the dermal interstitial fluid of the subject to be sensed by the microneedle array.
