Summary: | A vehicle steer-by-wire system for controlling lateral movement of a vehicle is provided. The system includes a steering wheel torque feedback actuator assembly having two controllers, a front wheel steering actuator assembly having two zone isolated motors and controllers, two separate power assemblies, two separate vehicle communication networks of separate harness assemblies, and two separate power assemblies. And three private system communication networks between each node in the steering system. Regional isolation of redundant components enables common fault causes not to endanger the system when one or more of the components fail. The system may include a differential gearbox wheel actuator to allow for an absolute position of the wheel. The system may also include a set of position sensor assemblies including two magnetic sensor assemblies and one inductive sensor assembly.
