Summary: | There is described a method of islanding grid identification by a voltage source inverter (14), comprising the steps of: determining the frequency and phase of a voltage curve of a sub-grid (10) connected at a grid connection point of the inverter (14); generating a voltage curve having the determined frequency by means of a bridge circuit of the inverter (14), wherein the phase of the generated voltage curve has a first change over time with respect to the determined phase; determining a correlation between the first temporal change and a second temporal change of power exchanged with the sub-grid (10) by the inverter (14); and if the determined correlation is lower than a predetermined correlation degree, identifying the isolated island power grid. A corresponding voltage source inverter (14) is also described.
