The present disclosure provides a flow drill screw and tip arrangement. A screw includes: a head; an externally threaded shank extending from the head, the externally threaded shank having an outer surface; and an orifice forming tip disposed at a distal end portion of the externally threaded shank. The orifice forming tip includes: a rounded lower region having an outer surface that is tangential to the outer surface of the externally threaded shank; a conical intermediate region having an outer surface tangential to the outer surface of the rounded lower region, the conical intermediate region defining an apex angle; and a rounded distal region having an outer surface that is tangential to the outer surface of the conical intermediate region.
