The invention discloses EtherCAT (Ethernet Control Automation Technology) equipment. The EtherCAT equipment comprises a communication circuit and a wake-up circuit, the wake-up circuit is configured to determine a condition for sending data to the EtherCAT master node. Based on this condition, the wake-up circuit is configured to generate a wake-up packet. The communication circuitry may be configured to receive an EtherCAT frame originating from an EtherCAT master node. The communication circuitry may be configured to populate the EtherCAT frame with data to be sent to the EtherCAT master node.
