The present invention relates to an aerosol-generating device comprising a cavity for receiving an aerosol-forming substrate; an electric heater arranged to heat an aerosol-forming substrate when the aerosol-forming substrate is received within the cavity so as to provide an experience of inhalable aerosol to a user; a rechargeable power source capable of providing at least a first experience and a second experience, without intermediate recharging between the first experience and the second experience; and a controller arranged to control power supply from the rechargeable power source to the electric heater during a first time period and a second time period after the first time period.
