Summary: | Implantable collagen-based hydrogel materials are manufactured by providing a solution having a concentration of collagen molecules of 0.1 to 30% by weight and a concentration of cellulose nanofibers of 0 to 30% by weight. A non-polymeric short-range carbodiimide cross-linking agent is added to the solution in a concentration of 1 to 30 wt%, and riboflavin in a concentration of 0.1 to 10 wt%. The solution is allowed to react to form an intermediate hydrogel material, after which the intermediate hydrogel material is exposed to ultraviolet A light to form an implantable hydrogel material.
