Summary: | A barrier coating comprising polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylic acid, and carbodiimide is disclosed, wherein the barrier film is formed at less than 120 DEG C. Also disclosed are laminates comprising a barrier coating comprising polyvinyl alcohol, polyacrylic acid, and carbodiimide. The polyacrylic acid may include poly (meth) acrylic acid having a molecular weight of from 2000 g/mol to 400,000 g/mol and a neutralization degree of from 2% to 50%. The polyvinyl alcohol may have a degree of saponification of at least 80% and a molecular weight of from 10,000 g/mol to 300,000 g/mol. The disclosed barrier coatings provide good OTR at high humidity without the need for high cure temperatures or non-commercially viable cure times.
