The invention discloses a mobile environment monitoring robot and a working method thereof, the mobile environment monitoring robot comprises a walking device, a dust sensor and a controller, a mounting box and a telescopic device are arranged on the walking device, the dust sensor is connected with the telescopic device, the telescopic device is located in the mounting box, and the telescopic device can stretch the dust sensor out of the mounting box; the walking device, the dust sensor and the telescopic device are all in communication connection with the controller. The dust sensor is used for acquiring the dust concentration in the environment; the controller is used for controlling the telescopic device to extend until the dust sensor is located outside the mounting box in the walking process of the walking device and acquiring the dust concentration in the environment; when the dust concentration is larger than the first concentration threshold value, the walking device is controlled to stop moving, the
