The present disclosure provides a bus bar retention system for a traction battery pack. A retention system for positioning and retaining a bus bar relative to battery array terminals within a traction battery pack is provided. The retention system may include features for urging the bus bar into contact with an array terminal of the battery system. The retention system may additionally incorporate features for preventing exposure to a high pressure region of the battery system and for directing exhaust gases toward the pack-level ventilation system.
