The present disclosure relates to: a solid-state imaging device for implementing a low-cost implementation mode of a solid-state imaging device capable of spatial difference output; a method for driving the solid-state imaging device; and an electronic device. The solid-state imaging device includes: pixels each including a photoelectric converter element, a first capacitance element, and a second capacitance element; a read circuit shared by a plurality of pixels including a first pixel and a second pixel; and a vertical scanning circuit for controlling the pixels and the read circuit. The vertical scanning circuit performs a first control of simultaneously reading mutually different capacitive element signal levels of the first capacitive element and the second capacitive element in the first pixel and the second pixel. The present disclosure can be applied, for example, to a solid-state imaging device in which a pair of capacitances is provided per pixel, and the capacitances hold two signals, i.e., an AD-
