The invention relates to a medical device and a method for treating an instrument for surgery. A medical device may include an elongate member defining a lumen and a resection element extending through the elongate member lumen. The elongated member may include a side window at a distal portion of the elongated member and a front window at a distal end of the elongated member proximate the side window. The front window may define an opening at the distal end of the elongate member. The resecting element is movable within the elongate member lumen, where a distal end of the resecting element may be exposed at the front window. The resecting element may have a side window alignable with the elongated member side window.
