A process for purifying a pyrolysis oil derived from pyrolysis of plastic waste wherein the process comprises dehalogenation of the pyrolysis oil wherein the dehalogenation comprises contacting the pyrolysis oil with one or more adsorbent materials and/or subjecting the pyrolysis oil to a temperature of about 280 DEG C or more, wherein the resulting purified pyrolysis oil has a halogen content that is about 55% or more lower than the halogen content of the untreated pyrolysis oil. 一种用于纯化来源于塑料废物热解的热解油的方法，其中该方法包括热解油的脱卤，其中该脱卤包括使该热解油与一种或多种吸附材料接触和/或使该热解油经受约280℃或更高的温度，其中所得经纯化的热解油的卤素含量比未处理的热解油的卤素含量低约55％或更多。
