The invention relates to the field of composite material forming, processing and manufacturing, and discloses a composite material sandwich structure and a forming method thereof, and the forming method comprises the following steps: S1, laying a prepreg layer containing resin and continuous fibers on the surface of a core mold; s2, the core mold laid with the impregnated resin fiber layer is cut and machined into single blank array units according to preset requirements; s3, all the blank array units are arranged to form an uncured array blank; s4, curing the uncured array blank under a preset condition; s5, the cured array blank is machined to the outline meeting the preset requirement; and S6, the core mold in the array blank is removed, and the composite material sandwich structure is obtained. The single blank array unit is laid, cut and machined on the surface of the core mold, and the situation that the structural precision is affected by damage to fibers caused by independent pre-machining is avoided.
