The invention discloses a hydrogel polymer electrolyte as well as a preparation method and application thereof, and belongs to the technical field of zinc-air batteries and preparation thereof. The problem that an existing solid electrolyte is frozen under the low-temperature condition is solved. The preparation method comprises the following steps: carrying out a polymerization reaction on two polymer monomers, namely alkalized acrylic acid and a polymer monomer, and a metal salt under the action of a cross-linking agent and an initiator at a certain temperature to obtain a hydrogel polymer, then preparing the hydrogel polymer electrolyte through a swelling method, and assembling the zinc-air battery with the hydrogel polymer electrolyte. The excellent low-temperature cycle performance is shown. Test results show that the catalyst can be circulated for more than 483h at a low temperature of-40 DEG C.
