The present invention relates to a method of increasing one or more of collagen, elastin, fibronectin and hyaluronic acid gene expression in the skin of a subject, the method comprising topically administering to the subject one or more hyaluronic acid (HA) compounds and retinoid in a composition. The method improves the vision, feel and/or appearance of the skin, hydrates the skin, plums the skin, improves skin elasticity, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduces the depth, length or width of fine lines and wrinkles, and/or smooths the skin.
