Summary:A method and apparatus for manufacturing a glass article includes flowing a glass ribbon through a housing having first and second sidewalls. The glass ribbon has first and second opposing major surfaces extending in a length direction and a width direction. Ions are directed from the ionization source toward at least one of the first and second opposing major surfaces of the glass ribbon, and/or the electrode directs particles away from at least one of the first and second opposing major surfaces of the glass ribbon.
