Summary: | Techniques provided herein relate to dual energy CT scanners and associated image acquisition and reconstruction techniques that increase spatial and temporal resolution over conventional dual energy CT scanner designs. A dual energy filter at a source as disclosed herein includes alternating materials that attenuate the X-ray source to different levels, providing spectral separation. As such, an object to be imaged by the X-ray beam is detected by both the low energy spectrum and the high energy spectrum. An X-ray spectrum at a source is divided in a detector channel direction (column direction).
