The invention provides a novel water-soluble sizing agent, the sizing agent comprises modified polyphenylene sulfide and water, one or more of hydroxymethyl, aminomethyl, carboxymethyl, chloromethyl, protonated amine ion salt and aldehyde group are introduced into the polyphenylene sulfide, and the water solubility of the polyphenylene sulfide can be improved by introducing the groups; therefore, the thermal stability and the water solubility of the sizing agent are improved.
