Summary:A method for heat treating a steel component part, comprising: (i) providing a steel component part formed from a high carbon bearing steel; (ii) heating the component to a temperature equal to or higher than the austenitizing temperature and maintaining the component for a time sufficient to at least partially austenitize the steel; (iii) cooling the component part to a temperature of 200 DEG C to 270 DEG C and holding the component part for at most 6 hours, preferably for at most 4 hours, thereby transforming at least a portion of the austenite into bainite; (iv) cooling and/or quenching the constituent part to a temperature of-30 DEG C to 30 DEG C to form martensite; and (v) repeating steps (iii) and (iv) by heating the component part to a temperature of 200 DEG C to 270 DEG C and holding the component part for at most 6 hours prior to cooling and/or quenching the component part to a temperature of-30 DEG C to 30 DEG C, thereby transforming another portion of the austenite into bainite and forming tempered
