The invention discloses a traffic signal control method and device for two-way tailgating passage, and the method comprises the steps: S1, judging whether an intersection meets an optimization condition or not, and executing a step S2 if the intersection meets the optimization condition; s2, obtaining the traffic capacity of the intersection, then judging whether the intersection has a saturation state or a congestion state or not according to the traffic capacity and the saturation degree of the intersection, and if so, adopting a lane-borrowing driving strategy of a middle narrow area; s3, calculating the emptying time of each flow direction of the intersection under the current traffic light signal control scheme; s4, adjusting the function of a middle lane according to the traffic condition of the intersection; and S5, redesigning an intersection traffic signal control scheme according to the intersection traffic capacity, the emptying time, the phase sequence, the sign and the marking line.
