Summary: | A circuit breaker design that allows a circuit breaker to have a thinner overall height (i.e., measured vertically along an exposed outwardly facing surface of the circuit breaker in a typical orientation of the circuit breaker panel) than is achievable by known typical configurations while still providing robust power (e.g., voltage) handling and arc interruption capabilities. This is achieved, for example, by providing various parts formed from a polymeric material, which typically has a poorer thermal conductivity than metals, which are reinforced in some areas by metal members, if desired, and a very special configuration of permanent magnets used to enhance arc extinguishing.
