The present invention relates to a game device and a computer program product which provide a highly interesting communication element. The game device is used for executing a game in which a character exits, and is provided with: a display control means for displaying, on a display means, a first character relating to the game executed by the game device; and a communication unit capable of communicating by a first communication method for transmitting and receiving information to and from another game device and a second communication method for transmitting and receiving information to and from an external device different from the other game device, the communication unit acquires, from another game device using a first communication method, information relating to a second character exiting in a game executed by the other game device, and acquires, from an external device using a second communication method, information relating to a third character exiting in a game executed by an arbitrary game device.
