The invention discloses application of a substance for adjusting the expression level of CdLAC15 in adjusting the polymerization degree of lignin. The first aspect of the embodiment of the invention provides application of a substance for regulating the expression level and/or activity of CdLAC15 in regulating the polymerization degree of lignin of a target plant. According to the embodiment of the invention, the expression of the Camellia Gaozhouensis CdLAC15 gene can regulate and control the polymerization degree of lignin. When the gene is over-expressed in wild-type arabidopsis thaliana serving as a model plant, the polymerization degree of lignin in tissues such as pericarp, leaves and stems of arabidopsis thaliana can be obviously increased.
