Summary: | Disclosed are a composite positive electrode active material, a positive electrode and a lithium battery each including the composite positive electrode active material, and a method of preparing the composite positive electrode active material. The composite positive electrode active material includes: a first core including a first lithium transition metal oxide; a second core including a second lithium transition metal oxide; and a shell along a surface of at least one of the first core and the second core, the shell comprising a first metal oxide, a first carbonaceous material, and a second carbonaceous material, the first metal oxide being in a matrix of the first carbonaceous material, the first metal oxide being composed of the formula MaOb (0lt; a < = 3, 0lt; blt; and b is not an integer if a is 1, 2 or 3), and M is at least one metal selected from group 2 to group 13, group 15 and group 16 of the periodic table of elements.
