Summary:The invention relates to a switching method for an electromagnetically actuated hydraulic valve comprising a switching element and an electromagnet having a coil and an armature which is connected for common movement with the switching element. When a current (I) is applied to the coil, the armature moves together with the switching element from an initial position (AP) to an end position (EP) for a switching operation. The method is executed by a control unit and comprises the following steps: applying a switching voltage to a coil of an electromagnet to start a switching operation; capturing a current profile (SV) that varies over time (t); performing an arrival detection of an end position (EP) of the switching element; determining a holding current (I1) as a function of the arrival detection of the end position (EP) of the switching element and of the captured current profile (SV); and reducing the current applied on the coil to the determined holding current (I1). The invention further relates to a hydra
