Summary: | There is provided a radiological imaging apparatus comprising: a radiation source for emitting radiation; a radiation detector positioned to receive radiation emitted by the radiation source and to generate radiation data, wherein the radiation data comprises a primary component and a secondary component; and a data processing system. The data processing system is configured to apply an image transformation to the principal component using a generation function, construct a scattering model basis using the transformation, adjust parameters in the scattering model using the scattering model basis to fit scattering, generate an estimated scattering image by using the fitted scattering model, and transmit the estimated scattering image to the computer. And modifying the radiation data using the scatter image to reduce the scatter in the radiation data, thereby generating a scatter corrected image.
