Summary:The present invention relates to a Controller Area Network (CAN) transceiver wherein a control unit of the CAN transceiver is configured to classify a potentially relevant frame as either a licensed frame or an unlicensed frame based on an acknowledgement delimiter bit and based on a bit of an end-of-frame field, the control unit is enabled to control the control interface based on the data field of the AT frame if the data field of the licensed frame represents a control instruction for controlling a supplemental control interface of the CAN transceiver.
