Summary: | The invention discloses an artificial graphite composite material, a lithium ion battery and a preparation method thereof, and the preparation method comprises the following steps: 1) crushing one or more of hard carbon, microcrystalline graphite and anthracite into 3-20 [mu] m powder as an additive; 2) crushing the asphalt into powder of 3-50 [mu] m to serve as a soft carbon precursor; 3) uniformly mixing the additive powder in the step 1) and the soft carbon precursor powder in the step 2) according to a mass ratio of (1-15): (85-99), then heating for 1-5 hours at 100-300 DEG C, and cooling to obtain a mixture; 4) performing nanometer grinding on the mixture obtained in the step 3) for 0.5-10 hours, and then drying; 5) carbonizing the product in the step 4) at 400-1800 DEG C, and then crushing the carbonized product into powder of 3-35 [mu] m; and 6) graphitizing the powder in the step 5) at 2000-3200 DEG C to obtain the graphite composite material.
