Summary: | The invention relates to a method for producing plate-shaped alumina particles. This method for producing plate-shaped alumina particles comprises: a step for mixing an aluminum compound containing elemental aluminum, a molybdenum compound containing elemental molybdenum, and a shape control agent to form a mixture; and a step for firing the mixture at 1200-1400 DEG C. The shape control agent is at least one selected from the group consisting of silicon, silicon compounds, and germanium compounds, and when the total amount of the raw materials in terms of oxides is 100 mass%, the amount of the shape control agent is less than or equal to 100 mass%. 0.8-4 mass% or less of silicon, a silicon compound, or a germanium compound is mixed in terms of SiO2 or GeO2.
