The k-space data includes lines of k-space data (510, 514) sampled according to a three-dimensional star stacked sampling pattern (500). The three-dimensional star stack comprises discrete sampling planes (508) periodically distributed along a Cartesian sampling direction axis (506). The line of k-space data passes through a Cartesian sampling direction axis. The line of k-space is perpendicular to the Cartesian sampling direction axis.
