Summary: | The invention relates to a method for extracting a polymer, preferably a polyolefin, from a polymer-containing waste material, comprising the steps of: providing a polymer-containing waste material comprising a polyolefin material; contacting the polymer-containing waste with a non-polar solvent (S) comprising at least one hydrocarbon having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms, optionally a halogenated hydrocarbon, to form a composition (C); heating the composition (C) at a dissolution temperature (T) in the range of 135 DEG C to 200 DEG C and a pressure (P) in the range of 0.1 MPa to 5 MPa for a time (M) of 5 minutes to 5 hours to obtain a solution comprising the solvent (S), the polyolefin material dissolved in the solvent (S) and the undissolved material (U); separating undissolved material (U) from the solution; the polyolefin material is separated from the solution, and optionally the solvent (S) is separated from the solution.
