Summary: | In an internal combustion engine system having an emission control system including an electrically heated catalyst (E-cat) and an electronic compressor (a separate or part of an electronic turbocharger), a method for operating the emission control system includes predicting an imminent cold start of the engine, activating the E-cat and the electronic compressor in response to the prediction, and monitoring the characteristic parameter Pe of the E-cat during the change.
