The present disclosure relates to a 5G or 6G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate. An apparatus and method for repeatedly transmitting an uplink channel in a wireless communication system. A method includes receiving first information including a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) field associated with transmission of a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH). The MCS field includes a plurality of bits, a first value of a first number of bits from the plurality of bits indicates a first number of repetitions for transmission of the PUSCH, and a second value of a third number of bits from the plurality of bits other than the first number of bits indicates an MCS index for transmission of the PUSCH. The method further includes determining the first number of repetitions based on the first value; determining an MCS for the transmission of the PUSCH on the basis of the second value; and transmitting the PUSCH having the first repetition number and the MCS. 本公开涉及用于支持更高数据传输速率的5G或6G通信系统
