The method comprises the steps of obtaining fault data of an optical cable in a preset area; obtaining geographical road network information of a preset area; based on the geographical road network information, breadth search is carried out between the first source machine room and the first target machine room with the length of the optical cable as the constraint, first routing information is obtained, and the first routing information is used for indicating one or more optical cable line routes of the optical cable between the first source machine room and the first target machine room; and determining the geographic position of the fault point according to the first routing information and the first interruption distance.
