The invention provides an air conditioner and a self-cleaning method thereof. The air conditioner comprises an air conditioner shell, a heat exchanger, fan blades and a humidifying assembly. An air inlet, an air outlet and an air duct are formed in the air conditioner shell, the air inlet and the air outlet are located at the two ends of the air duct correspondingly, the heat exchanger and the fan blades are located in the air duct, and the fan blades are located on the side, facing the air outlet, of the heat exchanger. The humidifying assembly is provided with a spray nozzle, and the spray nozzle is located on the upstream side of the heat exchanger in the air supply direction of the air duct.
