Summary:Devices and systems are disclosed for characterizing a target at an intravascular location based on detection of reflected light, where the detected reflected light intensity is measured at each wavelength or range of wavelengths of a set. At least one ratio between the detected reflected light intensities is determined, including at least one ratio between the reflected light intensities of at least two discrete wavelengths or ranges of wavelengths. Based on the at least one ratio, a type and/or composition of the target at the intravascular location can be determined.
