The present invention relates generally to processes for purifying, recovering, and converting chlorophenate salts (e.g., 2, 5-dichlorophenol and salts thereof). In aspects, the invention relates to removal of one or more impurities from a process stream containing chlorophenolate and/or recovery of chlorophenolate from a process stream for use of recovered chlorophenols elsewhere in an integrated process. The process streams that can be treated according to the present invention include process streams incorporating one or more chlorophenolate salts into the feed mixture, and process streams in which one or more chlorophenolate salts are present in the product or by-product streams of the integrated process. For example, the conversion process of the invention is suitable as part of an integrated process for producing 3, 6-dichloro-2-methoxybenzoic acid (dicamba), or a salt or ester thereof, or a process for producing 2, 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2, 4-D), or a salt or ester thereof.
