Summary:A rotating machine (1) is provided with a motor unit (2) and a brake unit (3) that brakes the motor unit (2). The brake part (3) is provided with a rotating plate (4) which rotates along with the rotation of the shaft (23); a sliding plate (5) provided so as to be slidable in the direction of approaching and separating from the rotating plate (4) in the axial direction of the rotating shaft of the motor unit (2); a spring member (6) that biases the sliding plate (5) toward the rotating plate (4); and an electromagnet (7) capable of attracting the sliding plate (5) in a direction away from the rotating plate (4). The electromagnet (7) has: a yoke (8) including an inner cylindrical portion (81) and an outer cylindrical portion (82); and a brake coil (9).
