Summary:Disclosed is a pesticidal protein class that exhibits toxic activity against coleopteran and lepidopteran pest species, including, but not limited to, TIC 7040, TIC 7042, TIC 7381, TIC 7382, TIC 7383, TIC 7386, TIC 7388, and TIC 7389. The invention provides a DNA (Deoxyribose Nucleic Acid) construction body, and the DNA construction body contains a recombinant nucleic acid sequence which is used for coding the insecticidal protein TIC7040, the insecticidal protein TIC7042, the insecticidal protein TIC7381, the insecticidal protein TIC7382, the insecticidal protein TIC7383, the insecticidal protein TIC7386, the insecticidal protein TIC7388 and the insecticidal protein TIC7389. Transgenic plants, plant cells, seeds, and plant parts that are resistant to coleopteran and lepidoptera infestation are provided, which contain recombinant nucleic acid sequences encoding the pesticidal proteins of TIC7040, TIC7042, TIC7381, TIC7382, TIC7383, TIC7386, TIC7388, and TIC7389 of the invention. Also provided are methods for
