There is provided a wireless power receiver for receiving power from a wireless power transmitter, comprising: a receiving section configured to receive wireless power from the wireless power transmitter; and a master controller configured to generate a signal including an FOD state packet, where the master controller transmits the signal including the FOD state packet to the wireless power transmitter, and in response to the FOD state packet, when a NACK response is received from the wireless power transmitter indicating a presence of a foreign matter in a charging area of the wireless power transmitter, the wireless power transmitter transmits the signal including the FOD state packet to the wireless power transmitter.
