Summary:A collision alert system and method for a micro-mobility vehicle includes a proximity sensor, a speed sensor, an alert device, and a controller having a bypass mode and an alert mode. The controller compares a speed of the micro-mobility vehicle to a predetermined speed threshold, enters a bypass mode when the speed of the micro-mobility vehicle is less than the predetermined speed threshold, and enters a warning mode when the speed of the micro-mobility vehicle is greater than the predetermined speed threshold.
