Summary: | The present invention relates to a method for detecting persistent abnormal (amyloid) clots in a sample using a fluorescence or microscopy detection method for diagnosing COVID-19 disease, preferably acute post-COVID-19 syndrome, in a subject, wherein the presence of persistently abnormal (or amyloid) clots, in particular clots that are resistant to fibrin hydrolysis, in the sample is indicative of acute COVID-19 disease or acute post-COVID-19 syndrome in the subject. The invention also relates to a diagnostic kit for diagnosing acute COVID-19 disease, in particular acute post-COVID-19 syndrome, in a subject based on the disclosed method.
