Summary:The invention belongs to the technical field of impurity removal in a byproduct 1, 2-propylene glycol (PG) of a transesterification method, and provides a method for catalytically removing odor impurities from crude 1, 2-propylene glycol, by adopting the method provided by the invention, heavy components and odor impurities can be synchronously removed from crude PG prepared by the transesterification method, and the PG yield can be improved. The method comprises the following steps: feeding a crude PG stream into a deodorization tower for steam stripping rectification; the reaction section of the deodorization tower is filled with a catalyst; a crude PG stream is in countercurrent contact with a steam stripping entrainer in the deodorization tower and is in contact with the catalyst in a reaction section of the deodorization tower, and part of impurities entrained in the crude PG stream are hydrolyzed under the action of the catalyst to obtain PG; the partial impurities comprise one or more of propylene carb
