Summary: | The present invention provides isolated glucose modulating compounds having both insulinotropic activity and hypoglycemic activity. The compound is a glucose regulating peptide which is derived from a transmembrane module 1 (CYSTM1) rich in cysteine. Also provided are compositions comprising the compounds and their use in the treatment of a disease associated with insulin deficiency or a disease associated with glucose uptake disorder irrelevant to insulin secretion of pancreatic cells in a subject, such as hyperglycemia, type 1 diabetes mellitus, type 2 diabetes mellitus.
