Summary: | The invention relates to a method for removing water from a particulate material selected from the (oxy) hydroxides and carbonates comprising at least one nickel or cobalt and at least one metal other than nickel, the process comprises the steps of introducing at least one particulate material having a moisture content of 1-30 wt.% relative to the particulate material into a rotary kiln having external heating elements and moving it through the rotary kiln together with a gas stream wherein the residual moisture of the resulting product is 50 ppm to 1.5 wt.%.
