The invention discloses a shading composition, a preparation method thereof and a display device, and belongs to the technical field of display. The shading composition is prepared from the following components in percentage by mass: 40 to 60 percent of polyurethane acrylate oligomer, 30 to 40 percent of acrylate monomer, 3 to 10 percent of photoinitiator, 0.3 to 5.5 percent of additive and 0.5 to 1.5 percent of metal complex dye, wherein the metal complex dye comprises at least two of a blue dye, a red dye and a purple dye, and the absorption wavelength of the metal complex dye is greater than 400nm. Through the synergistic effect of the components in reasonable proportion, the shading material formed after curing can show excellent comprehensive performance.
