The invention provides a quantitative rating method for macrostructure shrinkage cavity defects of a continuous casting billet. The method comprises the following steps: (1) acquiring a macrostructure image of the acid-washed continuous casting billet; (2) according to the low-magnification image, the equivalent diameter d of a shrinkage cavity in the continuous casting billet is obtained; and (3) evaluating the shrinkage cavity defect level of the continuous casting billet according to the specification of the continuous casting billet, the equivalent diameter d of the shrinkage cavity and the comparison table of the shrinkage cavity evaluation level and the equivalent diameter.
