Summary:To provide content-aware audio navigation instructions, a client device running a map application obtains one or more audio navigation guidance for traversing along a route from a starting location to a destination location. The client device also identifies electronic media content that is played from a source that is different from a map application running at the client device or in the vicinity of the client device. The client device determines characteristics of the electronic media content and adjusts audio navigation guidance according to the characteristics of the electronic media content.
